This band may have been a spin off from the well respected but now disbanded Andy's Clappers (see biog. below) who toured in a London Transport double-decker bus. The band lived together in a flat in Sandford Road, Moseley. My association was through Mel and John who I knew vaguely from the MAC and mainly involved the loan of some amplification. I remember having a couple of knock about sessions on guitar but this did not come to anything (I can't sing anyway).
Mel, a tiny chap notable for wearing a dramatic cloak, made amazing but unsubstantiated claims about his prize winning playing ability and close personal relationship with Ritchie Blackmore. At one time he applied for the job of lead guitarist with The Image, but backed off after discovering that he was to be my successor.
Andy's Clappers owned a converted London Transport double decker bus which took them to many Continental countries, with great publicity wherever they went. (The bus was never repainted, as was required and was always in its LT livery !) Spending about 50% of their time in Germany they concentrated on numbers by the likes of the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, 4 Seasons etc, as well as some original material. Starting in the early 60's they had disbanded by 1968. The line-up was stable with four of the five members constant throughout the life of the band.
